Appointments
Patients are seen by appointment only.
Consultation appointments may be made either by you or a referring
veterinarian. Please allow one hour for the initial evaluation
and let us know as soon as possible if you need to reschedule
or cancel your appointment.
For your initial consultation, it is important to obtain copies
of all pertinent information from your referring veterinarian;
including: laboratory, radiography, and previous treatments. In
many cases, this information may allow our doctors to complete
a diagnostic evaluation without duplicating previous testing.
If special diagnostics or surgery may be required, food should
be withheld from your pet after midnight the evening prior to
your appointment.

Fees
A fee estimate will be provided to you before the admission of
your pet for diagnostics and/or surgery. A deposit is usually
required at the time of admission.

Referring Veterinarian
The majority of cases seen at Southern California Veterinary Specialty
Hospital are referred by a general veterinary practitioner. Optimal
patient care requires communication between the client, veterinary
specialist, and referring veterinarian regarding the patient’s
medical history, previous schedules of treatment, and specific
medications.
Upon completion of the consultation, or upon recovery from surgery,
your referring veterinarian will be contacted by telephone and/or
provided with a complete written report regarding the management
of the patient. Maintaining an ongoing association with your pet’s
primary health care provider is vital to ensure the continuing
good health of your pet.
